Jazz, TX is happy to present Chuck Redd! Mr. Redd will be joined by our very own Doc Watkins Trio. You won't want to miss this exciting show! Chuck Redd is an acclaimed jazz musician recognized globally for his performances on drums and vibraphone. He began his career at 21 with guitarist Charlie Byrd’s trio and The Great Guitars, and has since toured extensively across Europe and Japan with notable ensembles such as the Barney Kessel Trio and the Benny Goodman Tribute Orchestra. Redd served as Artist-In-Residence at The Smithsonian Jazz Café and is currently the Artistic Director of The Oregon Festival of American Music. He has been featured at major jazz festivals and events like The Roswell Jazz Festival and The Monty Alexander Jazz Festival. Redd has played alongside many jazz greats, including Dizzy Gillespie, Mel Tormé, and Jeff Hamilton. He has also performed at prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall and the White House. His work has been praised for its vigor, melodiousness, and blues spirit. With over 85 recordings to his name, including collaborations with Gene Bertoncini, George Mraz, and Houston Person, Redd continues to lead his own groups and tour internationally. He has also been recognized for his contributions to jazz education, having taught at The University of Maryland School of Music for 12 years.
