The Copa Kings at Jazz, TX!
Sat, Jun 13

Fifteen years in, The Copa Kings are one of Texas's most versatile live acts. One set moves from Rat Pack swagger and Bobby Darin swing to Harry Connick Jr. groove, then turns on a dime into Fats Domino and Louis Armstrong New Orleans heat, with deep R&B running underneath. With four horns, two vocalists and a dynamic rhythm section, TCK brings high-energy American music played by a band that can deliver across the whole spectrum.
Billy Murphy, born in Southeast Texas but now calling Austin home, fronts the band with the phrasing of Sinatra and Dean, the high-octane energy of Harry Connick Jr., and the grit of Louis Armstrong and Louis Jordan, the kind of frontman who turns a set into a party. Barbara White, the 19-year-old Austin phenom, sings with the swing and chops of Ella and Billie, with an Aretha blues edge when the band leans R&B.
TCK has two studio albums out and a big-band record in the works featuring some of Austin's most celebrated players. The rhythm section and horns have shared stages and studios with Texas and Gulf Coast legends including Ray Benson, Marcia Ball, Alejandro Escovedo, and Irma Thomas, and the band has opened for Asleep at the Wheel at the storied Gruene Hall. Road-tested polish you can hear in every chart.
Tight horns, swinging rhythms, and a setlist that flows from standards to second-line grooves to sultry R&B. Come ready to swing.
As always the bar and kitchen are open for dinner service!
See you at the show!
