Jazz, TX is welcoming the legendary Jeff Hamilton Organ Trio! Jeff Hamilton joins forces with Akiko Tsuruga (organ) and Steve Kovalcheck (guitar) once again by combining the exceptional talents of three singular pros into an evening of high energy, innovative arrangements and world-class musicianship. You won't want to miss one of the best organ trios performing today! Jeff Hamilton, born in Richmond, Indiana, is a renowned jazz drummer influenced by legends like Gene Krupa and Buddy Rich. He studied at Indiana University and under John Von Ohlen before launching his career with the New Tommy Dorsey Orchestra in 1974. Hamilton played with Lionel Hampton and Woody Herman’s Thundering Herd, later joining the L.A.4 in 1978. He worked with iconic artists such as Ella Fitzgerald, the Count Basie Orchestra, and Oscar Peterson. In 1988, he joined the Ray Brown Trio before focusing on his own projects in 1995. Hamilton has recorded over 300 albums with prominent musicians, including Diana Krall and Barbra Streisand. He has also been featured in various films and documentaries. Honors include induction into The Jazz Cruise Hall of Fame and the 2018 Louis Armstrong Award. Hamilton currently performs with The Jeff Hamilton Trio, The Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra, Akiko Tsuruga and Steve Kolvacheck in an Organ Trio.
