Tony Danza - "Standards and Stories"
Sat, Aug 01
"A live wire who tap-dances, plays the ukulele, tells stories and radiates irresistible charm… the kind of charisma that can't be taught." — The New York Times "A welcome reminder of why the standards are just that — because they're timeless." — Broadway World "Seeing Tony Danza on stage in your lifetime is a must." — Scott Spears, WWGH Radio
Tony Danza returns with his acclaimed live show, "Standards and Stories," to the Jazz TX stage.
Backed by his four-piece band, Danza performs favorites from the Great American Songbook and tells the stories behind them, delivered with the wit, warmth, and effortless charm that have made him a star for more than 40 years. Add a little ukulele and a few steps of soft shoe, and the night feels less like a concert than an evening with an old friend who happens to be a genuine legend.
Best known for his starring roles on the classic series "Taxi" and "Who's the Boss?", Danza is also a seasoned Broadway song-and-dance man, drawing raves in "Honeymoon in Vegas," "The Producers," and "A View from the Bridge." His screen credits stretch from "Angels in the Outfield" and "Don Jon" to "The Good Cop" and "Power Book III: Raising Kanan," with an upcoming turn in "And Just Like That." At Jazz TX, all of that history steps off the screen and into the room with you.
As always, our kitchen and bar will be open for dinner service!
See you at the show!
About Jazz TX
Jazz, TX is San Antonio's home for live jazz, tucked into the basement of the historic Pearl Brewery's Bottling Department. Founded in 2016 by bandleader and pianist Doc Watkins, the club picked up the torch of the city's great jazz rooms and quickly became its premier destination for live music. Seven nights of shows span jazz, blues, big band, Texas swing, salsa, and Latin jazz — from Doc Watkins and his ten-piece orchestra to world-class touring artists like Kevin Eubanks, Bill Charlap, and John Pizzarelli. Every show is an intimate, 90-minute ticketed concert. Come early for South Texas cuisine, craft cocktails, wine, and beer, and stay for the music. At Jazz, TX, the night is a celebration shared between the audience and the band. 312 Pearl Parkway, Building 6, Suite 6001, San Antonio, TX 78215 (210) 332-9386 Tuesday–Thursday 6–10 PM · Friday–Saturday 6 PM–midnight · occasional Sunday special shows
