Jazz, TX Presents: George & His New Heartaches

Tue, Nov 17

"The vintage production makes George & His New Heartaches sound like it's emanating from an old radio in a Norman Rockwell painting." — Bandcamp Daily

George & his New Heartaches play the country music of the 1940s and '50s dance halls, and they play it for dancing. Back home in Berlin, they throw two-step and swing parties. In their own words, they play "boot scuffing, heart aching tunes" for dancing cowboys and girls.

George Aschmann comes from Shenandoah County, Virginia, and has played American roots music his whole life. That includes years on the streets of New Orleans with the band Frog and Henry. Now his fiddle and voice lead the band, with high lonesome harmonies on top. Jack B. Latimer plays rhythm guitar with a jazz player's swing. Seb Müller brings steel guitar from the Hawaiian music scene, and Marty Herzog takes the electric solos. "Big Toni" Tönißen keeps the string bass shuffling. For this tour, Coleman Akin of New Orleans adds a second fiddle.

About Jazz TX

Jazz, TX is San Antonio's home for live jazz, tucked into the basement of the historic Pearl Brewery's Bottling Department. Founded in 2016 by bandleader and pianist Doc Watkins, the club picked up the torch of the city's great jazz rooms and quickly became its premier destination for live music. Seven nights of shows span jazz, blues, big band, Texas swing, salsa, and Latin jazz — from Doc Watkins and his ten-piece orchestra to world-class touring artists like Kevin Eubanks, Bill Charlap, and John Pizzarelli. Every show is an intimate, 90-minute ticketed concert. Come early for South Texas cuisine, craft cocktails, wine, and beer, and stay for the music. At Jazz, TX, the night is a celebration shared between the audience and the band. 312 Pearl Parkway, Building 6, Suite 6001, San Antonio, TX 78215 (210) 332-9386 Tuesday–Thursday 6–10 PM · Friday–Saturday 6 PM–midnight · occasional Sunday special shows
